Program notes:

“Campobanda” is a summer music camp specialising in band music for young musicians, organised by Linda Anzolin and Giordano-Bruno Tedeschi; each year, a theme is chosen around which the repertoire is built (ranging from cinema to video games and pop culture). For the 16th edition, the chosen theme centred on the films of Bud Spencer and Terence Hill, a pair of Italian actors active mainly from 1967 to 1985 and again in 1994, who starred together in 18 famous action comedies in the style of Italian Westerns and the buddy cop genre.

With “Fagioli e Sberloni”, the composer aims to pay tribute to this cultural phenomenon by capturing the essential elements of their films in music.

“Il tema di Bud” (Bud’s Theme) - The gruff, burly giant, seemingly surly but with a tender heart and an unwavering sense of justice.

“Il tema di Terence” (Terence’s Theme) - The quick-witted, charming and cunning hero, yet always on the side of the righteous.

“L’inseparabile coppia” (The Inseparable Duo) - A perfect balance of complementary opposites, musically rendered from bar 56 onwards, where the two themes merge.

“Tizi strambi e loschi” (Weird and Shady Guys) - Here come the villains, always a bit ridiculous and grotesque but with sinister intentions.

“Rissa!” (Brawl!) - Our heroes arrive and the typical fistfight begins, where any object will do to stun the villains (even a large pot!).

Shuffle Rock - It’s all over and we’re heading towards a happy ending, but first…

Straight - …our heroes take care of the last of the villains!
