Yuichi Ura
Born in Hiroshima City in 1983, he began studying composition while attending Hiroshima Gakuin Junior High School. After graduating from the Department of Composition at Musashino Academia Musicae, he moved to the United States. He completed a Master’s degree in Instrumental Conducting at St. Cloud State University and a Doctorate (D.M.A.) in Orchestral Conducting at the University of Iowa. He studied composition under Yu Wakao, Kumi Wakao, Yukiya Saka, and Libby Larsen. He has received numerous awards, including third prize at the 26th Japan Federation of Musicians Composition Competition. His recent works include *Three Movements for Clarinet* and *String Trio*. As of June 2026, he serves as an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Miyazaki and as the Bandmaster of the Miyazaki City Fire Corps Band.
