Program Note:
This piece is a trio for violin, flute and cello which was inspired by the surrealism arts of abstract expressionists such as Salvador Dali.Weird features and dreamlike scenes in the paintings transpired by way of music. This piece contains two movements: 1. Twisted swings: The swings of ghostly limbs are expressed with juxtapositions of minor second and major seventh intervals, while harmonics of the string instruments evoke the imagination of a distorted fantasy world. 2. Pale moonlight: The triplet rhythm on the violin and cello sets off a dancing mood. As the constant swinging rhythm continues, the flute leads an elegant but somewhat eerie melody that ushers in a scene of ghost dance under pale moonlight.
