Program notes:
This piece was inspired by the Jeju folk song "Yongcheongeom" and the *Mugunghwa* (Rose of Sharon) - Korea's national flower, symbolizing affection and conviction. The first half of the work expresses "affection," while the second half conveys "conviction."
Following a brief introduction that presents the piece's primary motif, the theme of "Yongcheongeom" emerges gently. Subsequently, a bassoon solo marks a dramatic shift in the musical character, leading into a powerful progression.
