Program notes:

Cecile Chaminade (1857~1944) was a French composer and pianist. They say that she was a first female composer who succeeded in publishing and performance, and was independent, financially. Although she succeeded in her lifetime, after her death, most of her works were forgotten. Since 1990s, one of her works, “Concertino pour Flute, Op.107” has been performed, again, and now, her other works are also performed, recently.
This work, “SOLITUDE” is one movement from "Poemes provencales" for Piano.
Today, many of her works are still forgotten, although she composed a lot of works. But, it’ll be worth thinking that thanks to those forgotten works and forgotten composers, we can enjoy the present music.

Remarks on play:
Solo:
Contrabass is written on basis of orchestra strings and usual turning. You can change the sound range 1 octave lower or higher, according to your technique.

Both Solo and Accompaniment:
If grace notes are technically difficult to play, you can omit those grace notes.
(Kouichirou Oguni)
