Program notes:
This work is “Romance” from Opera “Maitre Pathelin” by Francois Bazin (1816~1878), who worked especially on Opera music. In 1840, when he was 23 years old, he received a prize of the "Prix de Rome".
However, nowadays, his works are seldom performed, although he created beautiful Airs, including “Romance”.
Through my transcription, I’ll be more than happy if you consider that there were many excellent composers and their works, although they were not so famous, and thanks to their efforts, now we can enjoy the present music.
Remarks on play:
On each instrument, keys and sound ranges are chosen, so that players can easily play this work. As for Contrabass, solo is written for orchestra strings and usual turning.
For your reference, I set up the technique standard so that students who started their instruments about 3 months ~ 6months ago can work on.
Piano accompaniment is also simply arranged. Although if you have never performed solo, nor Piano accompaniment, I presume you can work on this piece, casually.
Others;
・On the original score, tempo is specified quarter note:72, but, slower tempo may be suitable.
・Flute: If possible, you can play 1 octave higher notes from notations.
・Both solo and accompaniment: Grace notes can be omitted if they are hard to play.
