Program notes:
L'Odysee des Vents is a work created to celebrate the diverse sounds and rich timbres of wind band. The ever-evolving musical narrative, constantly changing as it progresses, invites listeners on a journey, stirring their hearts with everything from majestic and grand landscapes to delicate, intimate sounds. Each moment becomes a place of exploration, and the listeners are invited to surrender themselves to the expanding textures of sound and shifting atmospheres.
In the performance, the expressive power and technique of each instrument are fully utilized, with solos appearing throughout to highlight the individuality of each instrument. These overlapping voices create depth in the music, and the ensemble as a whole generates a resonant and expansive sound. Furthermore, the percussion supports the rhythm's vibrancy and the vividness of the colors, infusing the music with life and dynamism.
Through the flowing shifts in tonality, dramatic developments, and subtle contrasts in sound, L'Odysee des Vents offers an immersive musical experience for both performers and audiences. It is hoped that each listener will freely interpret this music, riding the waves and undulations of sound, and paint their own unique story. Supported by the graceful yet powerful nature unique to wind ensembles, this musical journey is intended to resonate deeply with the hearts of those who listen.

Theo Koita-Borcard (°1996 - Evian les Bains, France) is a French-Japanese composer. Interested in music from an early age, he began to study classical music with saxophone, baritone saxhorn, tuba, then later he also became interested in the world of amplified music by studying bass guitar.
In 2019, he started a Bachelor of Musicology at the University Grenoble Alpes which he obtained in 2022. In 2020, he also began studying composition with Arnaud Petit at the Conservatoire a Rayonnement Regional in Grenoble : he obtained his Diplome d'Etude Musicale (DEM) for composition with the maximum score. In 2022, he continues his studies with a Master's in Composition at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, under the guidance of Wim Henderickx, Bram Van Camp, and Steven Prengels. In 2023, he further deepens his training in wind band and brass band with Jan Van der Roost. He graduates with distinction in 2024.
He composes for different formations (soloist, duets, trios, ensemble, etc.) and a variety of instruments (carillon, recorders, koto). He is interested in any form of art as long as they can marry with music. He also composed music for the cinema (Midnight Snack), music for dance (Perle ai Porci and Tutu) as well as electronic music (懐 か し き 記 憶 [natsukasi na kiyoku] - nostalgic memory).
Theo has a second passion : the sound engineering. He started as a self-taught artist in 2013. He then trained in the field of sound in various companies, then did an internship in a concert hall as an engineer of the assistant sound. In addition to his diploma and composition program, he joined the Conservatoire a Rayonnement Regional de Grenoble in 2019, where he studied sound engineering with Clement Durant and Tullio Razziato, where he also obtained his DEM. He will then take care of sound recording and mixing of amplified music, classic films but also documentaries and various short films.
