This is the latest CD of CRYSTON Label from Octavia Records, by Stephane Labeyrie; Tuba player who succeeds all over the world.
Labeyrie belongs to Orchestre de Paris. In 2006, he visited Japan as a member of Brass Quintet from Orchestre de Paris. After that, he visits Japan again and again as a Tuba instructor on several clinics, for example, for which YAMAHA sponsors.
Solo Albums of Tuba are not so many, because of instrumental characteristics. However, “CRYSTONE”, which is established by Octavia Records for wind instruments, has a policy; Offering best players for all instruments. And, this time, Solo Album by Tuba is created for the first time. Nowadays, Labeyrie is often praised as one of excellent Tuba players, with Roger Bobo (Los Angeles Philharmonic), and Gene Pokorny (Chicago Symphony Orchestra).
On this Album, remarkable points are Labeyrie’s “Song” and “Technique”. Recorded works also show his talented technique, such as “Tuba Sonata” by Paul Hindemith (people calls it a bible), “8 Gedichte aus Letzte Blatter” by Richard Georg Strauss (“Song”), and “Blue bells of Scotland” by Arthur Willard Pryor.
You may be surprised by his sound, like Euphonium. We presume that not only Tuba players, but also all players can enjoy this CD.
