This emphasis on \"a stroke\" is the main theme of this piece. The rest of the voices are decorative, backing up the main melody. We had just received an invitation to perform together and we soon realized that the repertoire for Soprano, Baritone sax and piano is very limited, so I tried to make something new suited to our style. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eWith this trio I wanted to evoke the form and the style of the baroque “Vivaldian” concerto in which solo and tutti parts alternate. This is especially true for the first movement (Largo-Allegro ma non troppo) which follows the structure of any Vivaldi Concerto’s first movement: great care should be put in the performance to create an appropriate sound for the tutti and the soli. The second movement is some sort of Sarabanda without repetitions, while the third movement is more similar to a classical Rondo form. The key of C Major is overall very calm and simple, in earlier versions of the score there were many indications for the viola to play “molto sul tasto” in order to blend better with the clarinet sound and I think this is still a good playing technique to use in this piece in order to get a better sound with the clarinet. The music should sound playful in some parts but never aggressive.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eIn every movement I've followed the typical character and structure of the dances but in each one of them I’ve tried to gradually break out from the usual time signature so you will find a lot of rhythmic ambiguity since many musical elements are shifted in time or overlapping bars. This is especially true for the first movement (Largo-Allegro ma non troppo) which follows the structure of any Vivaldi Concerto’s first movement: great care should be put in the performance to create an appropriate sound for the tutti and the soli. The second movement is some sort of Sarabanda without repetitions, while the third movement is more similar to a classical Rondo form. The key of C Major is overall very calm and simple, in earlier versions of the score there were many indications for the viola to play “molto sul tasto” in order to blend better with the clarinet sound and I think this is still a good playing technique to use in this piece in order to get a better sound with the clarinet. The music uses the rhythm of percussion instruments and various flute articulations to create a hunting atmosphere, with hunting scenes such as waiting and chasing. The mechanic theme of the concerto is rendered by the Wurlitzer piano and its electronic sound while the various rhythmic modulations try to evoke the shifting of gears while driving.\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eAfter a short free introduction, the concerto follows the classical structure of having two themes that go through exposition, development and recapitulation. Like most of my pieces the style is very much influenced by baroque music: the keyboard playing should have a baroque taste to it (like a harpsichord). At that time, I performed a work titled *Dolcissima Mia Vita*, which was based on music by the Renaissance composer Gesualdo. As time passed, I found myself wanting to explore, in my own way, a meeting point between the Italian madrigal and percussion instruments.\u003cbr\u003eI first encountered the piece I have chosen for this work - Luca Marenzio’s *Zefiro torna* - back in 2002, when I was in junior high school. Some friends in the wind band were rehearsing it. I was captivated by the music's unique atmosphere, and upon researching it, I discovered it was a madrigal composed nearly five centuries ago. The poignant poetry left a bittersweet impression on my young, adolescent heart.\u003cbr\u003eThis is a duet for vibraphone and percussion. For the percussion part, the performer selects six different timbres from a range of categories - membranophones, skin-based instruments, and metals. Whether using standard instruments or percussion made from scrap materials, one can create a unique resonance. I chose this instrumentation imagining that the wandering minstrels of five centuries ago might well have turned anything and everything into an instrument. She offered warm support - such as lending me a music stand - and I was captivated by the incisive, brilliant sound she produced, particularly in the piece *Hitoiki-goto ni Ichijikan* (*Concerto per 8 soli*). At that time, I performed a work titled *Dolcissima Mia Vita*, which was based on music by the Renaissance composer Gesualdo. As time passed, I found myself wanting to explore, in my own way, a meeting point between the Italian madrigal and percussion instruments.\u003cbr\u003eI first encountered the piece I have chosen for this work - Luca Marenzio’s *Zefiro torna* - back in 2002, when I was in junior high school. Some friends in the wind band were rehearsing it. I was captivated by the music's unique atmosphere, and upon researching it, I discovered it was a madrigal composed nearly five centuries ago. The poignant poetry left a bittersweet impression on my young, adolescent heart.\u003cbr\u003eThis is a duet for vibraphone and percussion. For the percussion part, the performer selects six different timbres from a range of categories - membranophones, skin-based instruments, and metals. Whether using standard instruments or percussion made from scrap materials, one can create a unique resonance. I chose this instrumentation imagining that the wandering minstrels of five centuries ago might well have turned anything and everything into an instrument. It was a deeply moving encounter, and I am overjoyed - feeling as though I were floating on air - to have been granted the immense honor of having his perform a piece of my own composition. I composed the work in a single burst of inspiration, envisioning music that would draw out the cello's full potential while engaging in a dialogue with the vibraphone; I studied scores by various composers, revisited Kenji Miyazawa’s *Gauche the Cellist*, and sought to weave the \"music of Kyoto\" - an essence that flows naturally from Hibiki, a native of the city - into the piece. True to its title, *Fu-Rai-Bou* unfolds in three sections: \"Wind\" \"Coming\" and \"Kid.\" I wanted to depict a state of constant energy release, never settling in one place.
